Summary of Social Networks

Our group made a survey about using the social network. We conducted our research by asking 100 children between the age of 11-15. This summary is based on their answers.
After the rating we found this:

  1. Most popular social networks in Slovakia are Facebook, Twitter, Ask.fm and Google+. In their opinion, everyone uses Facebook. Instagram, Twitter and Tumblr are also used, but not in such amount.
2.

  1. All of the asked children use them for chatting with friends and more than half for watching news. Just under 50% of them are sharing photos and playing games on these social networks.
  2. A greater proportion of participants limit the access to certain parts of their networks while 40% do not.
  3. Mostly shared information are gender, age, location and school and also the vast majority share photos. However, lot of them publish their emotions and future plans too.
  4. Almost nobody believes that all the information found on the social networks are real. 50% of those surveyed said that most of the information is probably real.
  5. Only a tenth of respondents have posted or done something that they regret now. Other children claim that they have never done anything like that.
  6. In their point of view people share information because they want to be popular, interesting and recognized by friends or family.
  7.

  1. Many children have felt deceived by something they have seen or read on social networks and some of them have also bad experiences. Photos and lies posted can be offensive and children find it inappropriate to share them.
  2. Children warn people who start using social networks that sharing personal information can be dangerous and trusting strangers is not a good decision. They suggest being careful and a good tip is to think before you do something.
It was a nice experience to do this survey with children, we have learnt a lot about their thinking. And finally, we would like to thank our English teachers for helping us!
We really enjoyed it J

(We are still working on a video and poster, but we will share them as soon as possible. J)

  1. In Spain the statistics aren't too diferents, and the reasons why children get into social networking either. Bad experiences in social networks are abundant in all sites. There are always problems with the unconsciousness of some people at certain times.

  2. I haven't thought that so many people use the social networks more than six hours a day. "Meet real friends!"
